Since 2002, we have provided technical and biological consulting for over 350 biogas plants. This is not just about the technology – the biological factors account for at least 50% of the success.

REFURBISHMENT & REPOWERING
Many biogas plants are technically outdated or are running far below their potential. Targeted measures can significantly increase performance.
What we refurbish:

COMMISSIONING
The most critical moment of every plant: The first weeks after construction. This is where it is decided whether a plant reaches its potential – or causes problems for years.

- Handover only when everything works
- No handover on paper
Important: We stay on site until the plant is running stably.

COMPRESSED AIR STORAGE – 10 YEARS OF RESEARCH, ONE PATENT
We have been researching compressed air storage technology since 2012. In 2024, the patent for the spindle storage drive was filed.
Why compressed air storage? The energy transition needs storage. Not just batteries – we need mechanical storage for large amounts of energy over long periods of time. Compressed air storage is one solution.
Our innovation: The spindle storage drive significantly improves the efficiency and economy of compressed air storage. Details are patented.
Vision: Compressed air storage as a supplement to batteries – for industry, grid operators, large consumers.
METHANIZATION ON A LARGE SCALE
The mission: Convert CO and CO2 into high-purity methane using bacteria – on an industrial scale.
The technology: Uses microbiological processes to convert synthesis gas (CO/CO2) into methane. This allows us to produce high-quality methane from residual materials that would normally only be incinerated.
Applications:
- Upgrading of biogas
- Utilization of synthesis gas from gasification processes
- Power-to-gas applications
- Storage of renewable energies
HYDROGEN FROM RENEWABLE RAW MATERIALS
Hydrogen is traded as the energy carrier of the future. The question is: Where does the hydrogen come from?
Our approach: Hydrogen from renewable raw materials – regional, sustainable, independent of fossil fuels.
Projects:
- Technical consultant for major hydrogen project in Austria and Germany
- Conception of plants for H2 production from biomass
- Integration into existing energy systems
Goal: Green hydrogen at economical costs – for industry, mobility, energy storage.
SAF – SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL
Aviation is one of the biggest challenges of the energy transition. SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) is the solution.
Our role: In 2025, Herbert Huber is the technical consultant for a feasibility study in Straubing for the production of SAF from biomass.
The concept: Produce aviation fuels from regional, renewable raw materials – without fossil fuels, without long transport routes.
Potential: SAF can replace conventional kerosene without the need to modify aircraft or infrastructure. This makes it the most realistic solution for CO2-neutral aviation.

Why I do what I do
When I entered the renewable energy sector in 2002, it was still a pipe dream for many. Today it is a reality, thanks to people who not only talked but also acted. I had the privilege of helping shape the energy transition. From the first biogas plants to the development of MicroPyros to innovative storage systems. Every project was an opportunity to give something back to society. What drives me? The conviction that clean energy is not a utopia, but a necessity. And the experience that promises are only worth something if you keep them. 350 optimized plants. 45 realized major projects. One patent. All of this is lived responsibility. For a sustainable future that we all owe our children.
